No driving school or instructor can guarantee the outcome of a DVSA practical driving test.

The Driving 2ition Test Ready Guarantee instead backs our professional assessment of your readiness.

​

If you complete the required Driving 2ition training programme, meet all applicable eligibility requirements and receive formal confirmation from your instructor that you are test ready, but do not pass your first practical driving test, Driving 2ition will cover the standard DVSA practical car test fee for your next approved attempt.

Minimum Driving 2ition training requirement

To become eligible for the Test Ready Guarantee:

​

New drivers

Clients beginning their driver training with little or no previous professional driver training must complete a minimum of:

40 hours of professional driver training with Driving 2ition.

​

Clients transferring to Driving 2ition

Clients who have previously received professional driver training with another instructor or driving school must complete a minimum of: 15 hours of professional driver training with Driving 2ition.

​

Previous training and driving experience may be taken into account when planning your training, but do not automatically reduce the minimum Driving 2ition training requirement for the guarantee.

Completing the minimum number of hours does not automatically qualify you for the Test Ready Guarantee.

The minimum hours make you eligible to be considered for the guarantee. Your instructor must still be satisfied that you have completed the required programme and consistently demonstrated the necessary standard.

Additional training may therefore be required.

Test Ready Guarantee eligibility

To qualify, you must meet all applicable requirements, including:

Training consistency

You must:

• Follow the training programme agreed with your instructor.

• Maintain the training frequency agreed with your instructor.

• Normally complete at least one Driving 2ition training session per week during the final 12 weeks leading up to your practical test.

• Avoid extended breaks in training unless agreed with your instructor or caused by reasonable circumstances outside your control.

• Complete any additional training or development reasonably recommended by your instructor.

• ​Reasonable exceptions may include instructor availability, illness, vehicle problems, DVSA disruption or other circumstances outside the client's reasonable control.

​

Repeated client cancellations, extended unexplained breaks or failure to maintain the agreed training programme may result in loss of eligibility.

​

Client training record

You must:

• Maintain your Driving 2ition client training record throughout your training.

• Ensure the required areas of development have been recorded.

• Complete any required client reflection or progress records.

• Keep the record sufficiently complete and up to date for your instructor to assess your development and test readiness.

An incomplete training record may mean that you do not qualify for the Test Ready Guarantee.

10 Fail Checklist Requirement

Before becoming eligible for Test Ready sign-off, you must successfully complete the Driving 2ition 10 Fail Checklist.

​

The checklist is used to assess key areas of driving performance that can contribute to an unsuccessful practical driving test.

To successfully complete the checklist:

• All 10 areas must be assessed by your Driving 2ition instructor.

• You must demonstrate the required standard in each area.

• Your instructor must record the checklist as successfully completed.

• Where an area requires further development, any training reasonably recommended by your instructor must be completed before the checklist can be signed off.

Successfully completing the 10 Fail Checklist does not automatically qualify you for the Test Ready Guarantee. It forms part of the eligibility requirements alongside your training programme, client training record, two passed mock tests and formal Test Ready sign-off.

Mock Test Requirement

To qualify for the Test Ready Guarantee, you must:

PASS A MINIMUM OF TWO FORMAL DRIVING 2ITION MOCK DRIVING TESTS

Both mock tests must be completed before your practical driving test.

For a mock test to count as a pass, you must complete the assessment:

• Without any serious driving faults.

• Without any dangerous driving faults.

• Within the permitted driving-fault criteria used for the assessment.

• Without instructor assistance or intervention that would result in the assessment being recorded as unsuccessful.

• To the standard required by the Driving 2ition mock-test assessment.

Your instructor will record the outcome of each mock test.

Only a mock test formally recorded as passed by your Driving 2ition instructor will count towards the two-test requirement.

A mock test undertaken with another driving school or instructor will not normally count towards the Test Ready Guarantee unless Driving 2ition has expressly agreed otherwise.

​

Passing two mock tests does not automatically activate the guarantee.

The two passed mock tests form part of the eligibility criteria.

You must also continue to demonstrate a consistent test-ready standard during subsequent training and up to your practical driving test.

If your driving standard subsequently falls below the required level, your instructor may withdraw or postpone Test Ready sign-off and recommend further training or that your practical test is moved.

Formal Test Ready Sign-Off

Before taking your practical driving test under the guarantee, you must receive formal Test Ready sign-off from your Driving 2ition instructor.

Your instructor will consider your overall performance, including:

• Vehicle control.

• Observation.

• Planning and anticipation.

• Speed management.

• Positioning.

• Decision-making.

• Awareness of other road users.

• Independence.

• Appropriate response to developing hazards.

• Your training record.

• Your mock-test results.

• The consistency of your driving.

The final decision about whether Driving 2ition considers you test ready rests with your instructor's professional assessment.

Meeting the minimum training hours and passing two mock tests does not override this requirement.

 

Your Practical Driving Test

You are responsible for booking, changing and cancelling your own practical driving test.

You must:

• Discuss your intended practical test with your instructor.

• Receive Test Ready sign-off before proceeding under the guarantee.

• Follow reasonable professional advice concerning your readiness.

• Follow reasonable advice to move or cancel a practical test where your instructor believes you are no longer test ready.

• Normally use your Driving 2ition instructor's training vehicle for the practical test unless another arrangement has been agreed in advance.

If your instructor advises that you are not ready, or that your driving standard has fallen below the required level, and you choose to proceed with the test regardless, the Test Ready Guarantee will not apply.

​

If You Don't Pass Your First Test

An unsuccessful practical test does not automatically mean you have lost the guarantee.

To receive the benefit of the Test Ready Guarantee, you must:

• Provide or discuss the DVSA test result and examiner feedback with your instructor.

• Review the unsuccessful test with your instructor.

• Continue training with Driving 2ition.

• Complete any remedial or developmental training reasonably recommended by your instructor.

• Continue maintaining your client training record.

• Demonstrate that you have returned to or maintained the required test-ready standard.

• Receive your instructor's approval before taking the next practical test.

The amount of additional training required will depend upon the circumstances of the unsuccessful test and your subsequent driving performance.

​

What the Test Ready Guarantee Pays

Where all eligibility requirements have been met, Driving 2ition will cover the:

STANDARD DVSA PRACTICAL CAR DRIVING TEST FEE for your next approved practical test attempt.

​

If you choose a test appointment that attracts a higher DVSA fee, Driving 2ition's contribution will be limited to the standard practical car test fee. You will be responsible for any additional amount.

​

The guarantee has no cash alternative and cannot be transferred to another person.

​

What Isn't Included

The Test Ready Guarantee does not cover:

• Driving lessons.

• Remedial or additional training.

• Instructor vehicle use or test-day charges.

• Training immediately before the practical test.

• Travel expenses.

• Cancellation or rebooking costs attributable to the client.

• Premium or additional DVSA charges above the standard test fee.

• Tests taken without the required instructor approval.

• Any further practical tests beyond the next approved attempt.

When the Test Ready Guarantee Will Not Apply

The guarantee will not apply where a client:

• Has not completed the applicable minimum Driving 2ition training hours.

• Has not maintained the required training programme or frequency.

• Has not maintained the required client training record.

• Has not completed required client reflection or progress records.

• Has not successfully completed the Driving 2ition 10 Fail Checklist.

• Has not passed at least two qualifying Driving 2ition mock tests.

• Has not completed training or development reasonably recommended by their instructor.

• Has not received formal Test Ready sign-off.

• Takes a practical test against reasonable professional advice that they are not test ready.

• Proceeds with a test after Test Ready status has been withdrawn.

• Does not complete recommended development following an unsuccessful first test.

• Takes the next practical test without instructor approval.

• Provides false or misleading information in connection with a claim.

Eligibility decisions will be made reasonably using available evidence, including training records, attendance, mock-test results, instructor assessments and test information.​
